Japan launched the second round of pre-discharge preparations, and it is estimated that about 7,800 tons of nuclear sewage will be discharged.

BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) According to the Kyodo News Agency, Tokyo Electric Power Company started the second round of pre-discharge preparations for nuclear polluted water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant on the 3rd.

It is reported that the concentration of tritium in the nuclear polluted water to be discharged into the sea will be determined. If the concentration meets its so-called "standard", the second round of nuclear polluted water discharge will be officially started on the 5th.

According to the report, the total amount of nuclear polluted water discharged in the second round is still expected to be around 7,800 tons, which is roughly the same as the discharge of 7,788 tons of nuclear polluted water in the first round, and the discharge cycle is about 17 days.

According to the report, as of September 21, there were about 1.34 million tons of nuclear polluted water in the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, accounting for about 98% of the storage tank capacity, and it is planned to be divided into four times in 2023, with a total discharge of about 31,200 tons of nuclear polluted water.

According to previous reports, despite strong opposition from Japan and abroad, the Japanese government and Tokyo Electric Power Company started the discharge of nuclear polluted water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant on August 24, and the first round of discharge ended on September 11.
