CCTV News:Today (June 28th) morning, the major project of "Power Transmission from West to East" — — The first batch of units of Baihetan Hydropower Station in Jinsha River were officially put into operation for power generation.
Baihetan Hydropower Station has installed 16 hydro-generator units with a single unit capacity of 1 million kilowatts, which is the largest hydro-generator unit in the world at present, and the development difficulty is far greater than other units under construction and put into operation in the world, and it is known as the "Everest" in the world hydropower industry.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in ningnan county, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province in the lower reaches of Jinsha River. It is the second stage of the four cascade hydropower stations in the lower reaches of Jinsha River, with a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, ranking second in the world after the Three Gorges Project. The average power generation for many years is 62.443 billion kWh, and all units will be put into production in July 2022.
